KVK, Sindewahi Stared the Project on “Farming System for Nutrition –approach for addressing food and Nutritional Security’’

Malnutrition  is a global  problem and the number of people affected is extremely high, keeping in view this problem ,A  Project   on Farming   System  for Nutrition (FSN)–approach   for addressing  food and Nutritional Security is started  through Krishi Vigyan Kendra ,Sindewahi  Dist .Chandrapur.  The project is funded by UNICEF with technical support of the Director Extension Education, MCAER, Pune and the Director, ICAR-ATARI, Pune in collaboration of M.S Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF).

                    The approach   comprises a combination of measures including advanced crop production practices,   biofortification, promotion of kitchen gardens of fruits and vegetables, livestock and poultry development, and   setting up of small-scale fisheries, combined with nutrition awareness. Under this project 16   KVK’s are selected   all over Maharashtra, KVK Sindewahi is one of it.

                      The   Project is implemented in two villages Delanwadi &   Nandgoan of Sindewahi taluka of Chandrapur district. About 150 farmers including men & women are selected   for the project. The project was started on 27th June 2019 in respective villages. The Off campus training prorgamme was conducted on12th July 2019 at Delanwadi village; nearly 125 beneficiaries were present for the training.

                         Under this project the vegetable kit was prepared including 14 types of vegetables seeds, pulses seeds, seedlings of custard apple and Medicinal plant Adulsa.

                         The project is successfully   started under guidance of our Programme co –ordinator Dr.V.G.Nagdeote .and implemented by project Incharge Dr.Sonali .N . Lokhande.
